I am angry. I am heartbroken. I am done.
I am done telling my Black friends, colleagues, and family members that I am there for them, that I stand with them, and that I fight for them. I need to do more. I need to hold myself accountable.
The protests that have rocked the United States since the May 25th murder of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, by an officer with a history of abuse complaints, stand as testimony to the ceaseless and unending horror of police violence towards African Americans in this country.
Hey there. How is goin’, bein’ a senior and stuff? Is it weird? It is totally weird for us. We don’t really know where or how to start. Well, I guess we’ll miss you. Your ultimate creativity, generosity, humor, and intellect have made the paper what it is currently.
Love is stronger than hate. Love is stronger than hate. There has been a lot of controversy with schools lately. From the white supremacy scandal on our own campus, to the fact that young people can get guns so easily and bring them to school; there is a lot of hate in our world. People do not pay attention to the needs of others. It is rather upsetting to many of us here at the paper. We are constantly in awe of what is going on in our own country and we cannot do anything to really make a difference at times. We try our best to influence our writers to act in solidarity, but are we successful? Not always.
